OUR PROGRAMS

SPORTS

ASRAB supports programs that involve extended periods of training by athletes in sports sanctioned by the Canadian Blind Sports Association, in order to participate in National or International level competitions. ASRAB programs include either the direct provision or facilitation of the provision of coaching and training opportunities.

As a volunteer organization ASRAB volunteers coaches, team managers, athletic therapists, guiderunners, tappers, directors, referees and officials deliver our sports programs. (Learn more about volunteering)

Sight Classification (general description)

  • B1
    No light perception in neither eye up to light perception but inability to recognize the shape of a hand at any distance or in any direction.

  • B2
    From ability to recognize the shape of a hand up to visual acuity of 2/60 and/or visual field of less than 5 degrees.

  • B3
    From visual acuity above 2/60 up to visual acuity of 6/60 and/or a visual field of more than 5 degrees and less than 20 degrees.

Each sport classification may vary in name but will coincide with IBSA sight classification requirements.

Saturday, November 21, 2009, the Alberta Men's Goalball Team will be holding a practice in Red Deer and invite everyone to come out and learn about Goalball, the organization, and even participate in the game!
